CAR COVERS

First Class Additions car covers are
specially designed to protect cars during storage, which is why they are well
known and much used in the field of classic and exotic cars, as these are not
driven every day. But we are also experiencing increasing interest from
‘regular’ car owners who have discovered the advantages of a good car cover.
A quality car cover must – at the very
least – be:

breathable

non-scratch

non-hygroscopic (does not absorb
moisture)

dust proof

a good fit
In addition, an outdoor cover must
also be waterproof and UV resistant.

Breathable
It is essential that a car cover is made
of fully breathable material to allow for the escape of condensation when it
evaporates (see more about condensation under Fact and Fiction). Luckily,
nowadays most people are aware of this and reject cheap but non-breathable
nylon and PVC covers for what they are.

Non-scratch
One would think the need for a soft inner
lining to prevent scratches would go without saying, but how many car covers
can you find that do actually have one?

Non-hygroscopic
The material must be moisture repellent –
even for an indoor cover! If the material absorbs and/or retains moisture
(like cotton) it will lie on the car like a damp cloth. A cotton cover should
only be used in a completely dry room, which in our climate means in a heated
room. This is why a good universal car cover should not contain cotton.

Dust proof
Above all, a car should be protected from
dust and dirt. Any woven material will let in some dust through the weave. A
non-woven material offers better protection.

Good fit
The cover must be the correct size for
the car and have some means to keep it in place. It should not touch the
floor where it could pick up dirt and grit which might cause scratches the
next time the cover is put over the car, and it should not be blown off by
every slight breeze or each time the garage door is opened.
Whilst other car covers fulfil only one
or two of the above requirements, First Class Additions car covers are made
of specially developed materials fulfilling all of these
requirements. This makes them superior to the other products available.
Our car covers can be divided into two
main groups:
car covers for indoor use
(Supertex)
and
car covers for outdoor use
(Moltex)
In addition to these two main ranges we
also offer various covers for special projects, made to measure for each
customer's specific needs. Examples are: reveal covers, traffic jam
prevention covers (covering a damaged vehicle to prevent traffic jams caused
by onlookers), covers with a club logo, etc.
